Mrs. Anderson

My name is Mrs. Anderson, and I am teaching your student's third-grade class! This is my second year teaching third-grade reading at Burns Elementary, and I am so excited to welcome in a new class of students. I am one of the two instructors assigned to your students. For more information about Mrs. Reed (teaching math and science) go to her teaching website!

My Background

I am a newer teacher to the Burns Elementary school, but very excited to be welcome to the Burns family! I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and continued my education at University of Southern California to acquire a Masters of Arts in English Education.

Originally from South Florida, I moved to Yardley when Burns Elementary offered me a position as a third grade teacher (the class your student is in now!). I am very passionate about teaching, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and reading!

More about the Class

As I would assume, you must be wondering what the class entails! We will be covering multiple books, reading comprehension, and much more. Specially, the third grade curiculum focuses on how well your student will be able to recount character trains, plot, and overarching aspects of the story we read.

We will be switching between three books (around 30-50 pages) and smaller short stories (i.e. fables and myths). For first week we will be starting with a fable and then the two weeks afterwards we will be reading a small book. There will be reading quizzes, comprehension test, and small group projects to help them develop their reading skills.
