Halloween Bash
As we come closer to finishing the month, you will see that your student has read Charlotte's Web, a short fable, finished a group project, and completed their mid-semester standard English test. To congratulate the class for their hard work, we will be hosting a small Halloween party! The students will be watching Charlotte's Web and It the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. In addition there will be popcorn and candy, as well as pumpkin painting.

There was a permission slip handed out in class this week for parents to fill out. This permission slip is due October 24th at the beginning of class.
Charlotte's Web Reading
Hello Lovely Burns Family! On Wednesday, September 28th, the class will be starting a new book. This book is Charlotte's Web, and we will be diving into small groups to look more closely at the text with each other.

There will be two reading comprehension quizzes completed in class. One will be at the half way point in the book and the other will be when we finish the book. Both of these quizzes will be completed with their classmates and they will have 30-40 minutes to complete 10 questions. But, we are all so excited to start reading this lovely book about a pig and a spider!
First Week Recap
As I am sure all of you are wanting to know, but the first week of class is over and was so much fun!

We focused on reviewing some concepts from the previous year, like plot and characters. We had multiple activities that involved having the classroom get to know each other (fun little ice-breakers!).
​
We also prepared as a class on what we are doing this semester and what everyone is looking forward to! We all did build classroom expectations together, and a list was sent home with each student on the rules we set for everyone.
